Filed: 12/22/17 Issued: 4/13/21 An absorbent article comprising a layered structure with an absorbent material sandwiched between at least two layers of said layered structure and at least one elongate tab, each elongate tab comprising an attached portion by which the at least one elongate tab is permanently attached to at least one layer of the layered structure and spaced from the attached portion, a fastening portion with hooks provided for releasably engaging a landing zone on the absorbent article, wherein: the at least one elongate tab comprises a complete layer of a predetermined thermoplastic material which is deformable of an energy source chosen from: heat, ultrasonic vibrations, micro waves, and infrared radiation; at least the attached portion and the fastening portion of each of the at least one elongate tab are made from said layer of predetermined thermoplastic material, wherein the attached portion comprises a weld, the weld of the attached portion and the hooks of the fastening portion being integrally formed deformations of said predetermined thermoplastic material; and further hooks are formed on the elongate tab and/or the layered structure, the further hooks and the weld being on top of each other, the further hooks being integrally formed deformations of the predetermined thermoplastic material of the attached portion and/or of a material of the at least one layer of the layered structure.
